Chris Townsend is Chief Executive Officer of AIG’s International General Insurance operations, which includes all Commercial and Personal insurance outside of North America. In this role, he has end-to-end responsibility for underwriting, claims, distribution and operating strategy across the company’s extensive international footprint. Chris is a member of the General Insurance Executive team.
Mr. Townsend is a highly experienced industry veteran. He has deep global expertise gained over 25 years working in both property casualty and life insurance markets. Previously, he served as President of MetLife’s Asia region, responsible for all businesses across 11 markets, and as a member of the company’s Executive Group. He joined MetLife from AIG, where he started his career in 1991, and held senior roles with increasing responsibility in London, New York, Singapore, Sydney and Hong Kong. From 2010 to 2012, Mr. Townsend was Chief Executive Officer of AIG’s Asia Pacific region.
Mr. Townsend holds a number of advisory positions, including Advisor to the Asia Society and the Seoul International Business Advisory Council (SIBAC). He is a Chartered Insurer.
